Aesthetic Style & Color Scheme

Explore Your
Aesthetic Style &
Color Scheme Preferences

All of our floral design projects are entirely unique depending on the seasonality of blooms, client preferences, and the event setting. We totally understand that clients can feel overwhelmed by so many floral inspiration images on social media, so our Inquiry Form helps to steer the direction of the design by identifying the preferred Aesthetic Style and Color Scheme. We are here to provide creative direction to realize your floral vision, even if you aren’t really sure what kind of florals you like!

Moonglow Floral focuses on the Aesthetic Style and Color Scheme rather than identifying every type of flower that will be used so we can incorporate what is freshest and in season at the time of your event. If you don't see your specific color scheme in the examples below, that is ok! We can start with a general color scheme and then customize it during the planning process.

After choosing your Aesthetic Style and a general direction for your Color Scheme, you can explore Pricing Information and FAQs.

Pricing Information

Pricing Information

We are honored when clients entrust us with beautifying their special day. We strive to provide clarity in the process. Floral pricing can sometimes seem mysterious and confusing so we want to provide additional context into how pricing works.

What goes into pricing?

Flowers: Luxury Product
As you may know, flowers are a luxury product with a short shelf life. Flower prices fluctuate frequently and are impacted by climate emergencies, weather, supply chains, staffing, pandemics, seasonality, and demand. The flowers that you enjoy at your event will have been stewarded by so many hands along the way including growers, farmers, distributors, truck drivers, wholesalers, and finally the florist. Even locally grown flowers touch a lot of hands and are priced to accommodate local farming costs. Like many other industries, inflation has substantially impacted the floral industry and florists are doing their best to adapt accordingly. Flowers are expensive because they are delicate and labor-intensive goods, but that ephemerality also makes them so special!

Fees & Sales Tax

Each Full Event event proposal will include an itemized estimate with line items for florals, potential Rental Fee, Design & Labor Fee, Delivery Fee, Installation Fee, End-of-Event Fee, and Sales tax. Full Service events require a significant amount of labor in planning, designing, coordination, production, installation, and tear down. Moonglow Floral desires to be a healthy workplace that pays team members fairly for their hard work on fast-paced events. The fees for Design & Labor, Delivery, Installation, and the End-of-Event support this goal. If an event requires complex setup in a limited time frame, we will need to staff more team members on the day of the event to ensure everything is executed smoothly. These fees are standard in the floral industry and ensure the sustainability of our small business.

Each À La Carte event proposal will include an itemized estimate with line items for florals, Design & Labor fee, Sales Tax, and a Delivery Fee if added. The Design & Labor fee covers the efforts invested in the creative design process, coordination, communication, sourcing, and physical labor involved in creating the floral designs. These fees are standard in the floral industry and ensure the sustainability of our small business.

Minimum Investment

Full Service events are priced according to the scope and scale of each event. À La Carte events start at a $300 minimum investment. It is common to allocate 8 - 15% of an overall event budget towards floral design.

Other Costs

Other costs related to business operations, hard goods (like vessels), materials, transportation, equipment, and rentals also contribute to overall pricing.

Client Budget
We totally understand that weddings come with a lot of costs and respect that you may have a firm budget! Our streamlined planning process starts with an Inquiry Form that helps us create an itemized estimate for your event. If that estimated cost is higher than your budget, we can make revisions to remove floral items to lower the cost. Once the contract is signed, Moonglow Floral will stay within your agreed total price unless you want to add to your order throughout the planning process. In the unlikely event that unexpected circumstances (such as severe inflation or flower shortages) impact the costs of materials, Moonglow Floral will provide prompt communication to talk through options. The client will be given the option to either stick to the original budget or increase the budget to achieve the original aesthetic vision.

Prioritizing High Impact Designs
If you are trying to decide what designs to incorporate into your event, we encourage you to prioritize the florals that will provide the most impact at the event! Rather than having a floral centerpiece at every table, you may want to prioritize a few fabulous installations on architectural features around the reception space. You may want to prioritize a luxe wedding bouquet and two beautiful vessel arrangements rather than a number of bridesmaid bouquets. You may want to focus on choosing floral items that are most likely to be photographed!

Quality Over Quantity
The best way to reduce the overall cost of your florals is to reduce the number of items requested and highlight a few key showstoppers. We are happy to provide recommendations or think through potential options with you!

  • I'm having a destination wedding on the Central Coast of California, but I don't live locally. Will we be able to plan everything from far away?
Yes, we love destination weddings on the Central Coast of California! From beaches to wineries to venues, the Central Coast is an amazing place to host a special event. Our streamlined planning process can happen from any location through the inquiry form, email correspondence, and calls. We are glad to partner with your Event Planner or Venue Coordinator along the way.
  • Is Moonglow Floral able to fulfill daily floral orders for special occasions?
We specialize in creating florals for weddings and events, rather than daily deliveries. We occasionally offer wrapped bouquets and vessel designs for pop up shops or holidays. You are welcome to place an Á La Carte order in advance of a special occasion!
  • Does Moonglow Floral have a retail/storefront shop?
Moonglow currently operates out of a private studio.
  • If I select the pick up option for an Á La Carte order, where do I pick up my order?
After your Á La Carte order is finalized, we will schedule the pick up appointment time and San Luis Obispo pick up location.
  • How do I care for my flowers to ensure that they stay fresh for my Á La Carte event?
Keep cut flowers away from direct sunlight and heat Do not leave flowers in a closed car without air conditioning Do not leave flowers in a car overnight Keep cut flowers away from ripening fruit After transporting your flowers to their final destination, add a bit more water to each arrangement. Transportation can sometimes cause a bit of water to spill out. Every stem in the arrangement should be submerged in water. This is especially important for warm, outdoor events. Do not leave bouquets outside of water for extended periods of time when taking photos. When taking photos with your bouquet, bring along your vase with fresh water so the flowers can rehydrate throughout the day. This is a wonderful task to pass off to a friend or family member! Be careful not to get the ribbon wet (tied around the bouquet) Refill the vase with fresh water every day Remove any petals or leaves that fall below the waterline Store the flowers in a cool, dark space at night Remove aging flowers from the arrangement to ensure clean water Keep flowers away from pets and children. Some plants can be poisonous if ingested.
  • Do you offer installations or other floral designs for brand events, photoshoots, or brand activation marketing?
Yes, we would love to hear more about your creative project! You can fill out the Á La Carte Inquiry Form and include a bit more information about your project! Or you can reach out to hello@moonglowfloral.com.
  • How do I get in touch about potential collaboration opportunities or Pop Up Shop opportunities?
Please reach out to hello@moonglowfloral.com to inquire about collaboration opportunities.
  • Do you offer subscriptions for businesses and corporate accounts?
Yes, you can fill out the Á La Carte Inquiry form to inquire about custom subscription options.
  • Where do you source flowers and foliage?
We source cut flowers from local and regional growers, wholesalers, and international growers. Seasonality has a big impact on our designs and adds to the uniqueness of each floral project.
  • What steps does Moonglow Floral take to consider the environment and sustainability?
Moonglow Floral often uses recyclable and reusable mechanics. We try to incorporate recyclable materials and composting into business operations. We prioritize sourcing cut flowers from local growers and regional growers when possible. We are committed to growing in other related practices that consider environmental sustainability.
  • What goes into pricing? Why do flowers seem so expensive?
We are honored when clients entrust us with beautifying their special day and we strive to provide clarity in the process. Floral pricing can sometimes seem mysterious and confusing so we want to provide additional context into how pricing works. You can read through more information on the Services page under the Pricing section.
  • Can my guests take home the centerpieces after the event? Can I provide my own vases for my event to cut down on costs?
Moonglow Floral selects vessels and vases to accommodate specific design considerations and size requirements. We source those vessels and are not able to accommodate vases brought in by the client. For example, we often prefer to use opaque vessels rather than glass vases so we can utilize chicken wire and waterproof tape inside the vessel to create a more dynamic, garden style design. We will consult with the client to determine their vessel preference. We typically use neutral-colored ceramic vessels, ceramic bowls, ceramic compote vessels, or metal compote vessels. We occasionally use glass vessels for specific designs. À La Carte clients can take home their arrangements after the event. Full Service clients can take home their centerpieces after an event unless they are renting the vessels from Moonglow Floral. Guests love taking home centerpieces at the end of a party and we love when people can enjoy the flowers after an event is over!
